2008 Honors Reception

On May 28th International Relations held its 2008 Honors Reception to honor and recognize the hard work and achievements of some of its students. The reception is held at the end of every spring quarter and is a great opportunity to learn more about the International Relations Honors seminar and hear International Relations students discuss the research they have done throughout the year. Before letting all who attended mingle and enjoy a catered lunch, there was a brief ceremony to give awards and discuss student research.

First, Professor Zeev Maoz, Director of International Relations and Professor Liz Zechmeister of Political Science announced the 2008 Academic Achievement Award recipients, Nicholas Schroeder and Rosemary Rawlins. Both Nicholas and Rosemary participated in the International Relations Honors Seminar and discussed their research and overall experience with the seminar.

Kimberly assisted Professor Gartner during the winter and spring quarters with his research on injured soldiers in Iraq, which she discussed during the reception. For her work Kimberly received $1,500.

The reception ended with the 2008 Departmental Citation students being recognized. Departmental Citations go to seniors who are graduating with a 3.6 or higher overall and major GPA. Not an easy thing to do!
