Internships
The International Relations (IR) Program does not offer or arrange
internships but may grant academic credit (IRE 192) for some
internships, up to a maximum of 12 units. Students who are interested
in obtaining academic credit through IR for an internship must have
upper division standing (90 units or more). The IR Program does not
grant credit for lower division internships (92s).
Students desiring IRE 192 credit must submit an application and a final
paper proposal for approval by the IR Program Director. These must be
submitted no later than 5 working days before the add deadline for the
quarter in which the student is planning to do the internship. Only
those internships that are related to international relations may be
given credit as IRE 192. IRE 192 credit does not fulfill any major requirements. See IRE 192 instructions below.
The UC Davis Internship and Career Center
coordinates placement of students into a wide range of internships,
including those that are part- or full-time, paid or unpaid, local, in
the Bay Area, in southern California, or in Washington, D.C. (the UC Davis Washington Center).
Advanced students may qualify for a small number of internships in
foreign countries. IRE 192 students are required to go through the
ICC's Transcript Notation process.
